Stevie Wonder quit MoTown in 1970 and released two albums all by himself. Berry Gordy was stunned to learn this from Stevie Wonder. Berry Gordy was able to agree with Stevie Wonder's demands for greater autonomy, full creative control, and rights to all of his songs. Stevie Wonder signed a 13 million dollar MoTown Records contract in 1972. Stevie Wonder received a higher royalty and full creative control. He also enjoyed the rights to create his own songs , something that very few artists were able to get at the time. The agreement allowed Wonder's music and videos to be used to debate controversial subjects such as drugs, poverty, war, and other issues. The first album he had released under his new contract with MoTown was, Music Of My Mind in 1972. Talking Book was Stevie Wonder's album in late 1972. It's still a significant piece music. This album contained Superstition, the number-one hit song.
